End of Term 2 Reflection and Teach the Teacher Highlights

Hi everyone, this is going to be two blog posts in one. It is going to be about End of Term 2 Reflection and Teach the Teacher Highlights we were supposed to have sharing time but we ran out of time. I hope you enjoy.

Backward-Looking:
What have been your learning highlights this term?
  1. Highlight - Teach the Teacher
Because I had a lot of fun and I learnt so many new things, like Samoan Culture
     2. Topic - Space
I have learnt so many new things about Space, I have learnt a life cycle of Star
     3. Puberty - Puberty is not really my highlight but I still liked the session and I am learning new things about the body and menstruation

Inward-Looking:
What were your Learner Profile goals for Term 2? Have your goals changed? Are you on track to meet your goals?
My two learner profile goals for this term was being Principled and a Balanced Learner.
I have met my being a Balanced learner goal by finishing all of my non- negotiables a few weeks back HERE
I have met my being a Principled learner goal because I think I have being a good role model and if I had been intrusted with an important task that I need to do I would do it that come under RESPONSIBILITY

Outward-Looking:
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your learning so far?
Hunter has been doing very well in all her subjects, but sometimes Hunter can get a bit chatty in the class. But if I tell her to do something she will do straight away and she works very hard during learning time.

Forward-Looking:
As you look back at your learning so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to improve upon?
Blogging
I want to do at least two blog posts a week and write a lot of comments on other people’s blogs and not just people for our school from other schools.

Have You Ever Wondered What That Fire Red Ball In Space Is?

In Week 5 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great information reports.
We wrote about the planet Mars as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a great information report will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time.
Here is my writing, after I have self-assessed and peer-assessed my work.

Introduction
Mars is a red planet. It’s named after the Roman god a war, it is the fourth planet in our solar system. This report will tell you all the knowledge you need to know about Mars.

Appearance
Mars has a very different appearance to Earth. Did you know that Mars has a lot of volcanos? The biggest volcano on Mars is called
(Olympus Mons also know as Mount Olympus.) Mars is very hot due to how close the sun is to it but Mars can also be very freezing.  Fascinating fact Mars’ has a hard iron core. In addition Mars is very dry due that it is very close to the sun, that dryness leads to a very hard crust on the planet Mars. Mars has the biggest canyon in the entire solar system, Valles Marines. Scientist think that there might of been rivers in the past on Mars.
This is what a dust storm looks on Mars (remember they last for months)
Could humans live on Mars
Mars is inhospitable planet, which is uninhabitable for humans to try live on Mars. On Mars there are often dust storms and they last about
for months, and for a human to live on Mars it would be pretty difficult.
There is a little bit of oxygen (02) and possibly a little bit of (H20) on
Mars, Mars has a thin atmosphere, which causes a that little bit oxygen (02) . On Mars there is no magnetic field so it allows radiation from the sun which means the, UV RAYS makes you get skin cancer. If you had tried to live on Mars beware what will come ahead of you.

Mars’ Moon This is what Phobos and Deimos look. (Don’t you think they do look strange.)

Mars’ is circled by two tiny non illuminated moons called Phobos and Deimos. The moons are strangely shaped like lumpy potatoes. Furthermore, Phobos and Deimos are smaller than our Moon. Additionally the moons have weak gravity, the weak gravity causes them not to pull force for them to orbit.

Conclusion
Now you have some key and fascinating information about Mars, our closest neighbour. If you want to find out more about Mars, then you might want to visit http://www.planetsforkids.org/planet-mars.html. I hope this information report has encouraged you to perhaps write your own.

Explanation: How to survive your first night in Minecraft!

In McCahon Class we have been writing explanations, this one is about how to survive your first night in Minecraft, Minecraft is a very popular game that everyone around]d the world loves to play, I hope this will help you when you try play Minecraft.

HOW TO SURVIVE YOUR FIRST NIGHT IN MINECRAFT

Minecraft is a popular game that everyone around the world loves to play.
As the sun rises your goal is to survive the first night because that is what it’s all about. Don’y get nervous though this is a guide that will help you.

First of all you should mine some wood normally there is enormous trees, about twenty oak wood would help you for the day and night. Well after that you have mined yourself some wood go and make yourself some wooden planks. Next make a crafting table because you need one, then make some sticks then you can make you some wooden tools but, what I make a wooden pickaxe and dig a hole in the ground and mine some cobblestone and then make me some stone tools like a sword ;pickaxe; axe and a shovel, you should also make a furnace then you are set for now.

After all of that you should go and get you some resources. The resources that you will need is food to fill your hunger bars, If you find a village by any chance you can go to their crops and collect wheat to make bread also collect potatoes and you can cook them so there nice and golden brown, you can also collect carrots. You can get your food from animals, the animals in minecraft are pigs, cows chickens and sheep but you don’t get any meat from those fluffy sheep you get wool. Cows can also give you leather as also meat. Now to cook your meat you need to get mine some coal that is a very important resource but if you can't find any what you can do is put some oak wood in your furnace at the top and wooden planks at the bottom, you need it to make torches. You will also need to mine some cobblestone. Now you are successful with your resources. My best tip for you is to slowly creep up on the animals.

Wow suddenly the sun is going down already, rapidly what I do is dig in a mountain or a little hill and dig a space for yourself to put your bed somewhere also to put down a make sure you are secure , crafting table, furnace and chest. Then the sun goes down and the moon rises that is the time to sleep.

Now that is how you survive your first night in minecraft. I hope this will help you survive the first night. Unfortunately, make sure you look out for those mobs which are zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers and endermen, Don’t be careless about them, especially watch out for those creepers you don't want to know them.

Week 4 Reflection

Week 4 Reflection-Hunter

What: This week I had a reading group lesson about the book War games and we were identifying the authors purpose also finding evidence to support my thinking and to look for clues ( inference ) in the text.

So What: It helps us to understand the text. Also to think beyond surface features of the story. However you also make connections with your prior knowledge.

Now What: I can use this strategy when I read other texts. It also improves on my learning and I get the hang of identifying the authors purpose.

Hello Everyone,

I had a great time doing this and it also helps me to improve in on my learning.
It also helps to achieve my Key Competency Goal.

Mathematician - Pythagoras

Guten Tag Everybody,

This is my Mathematician Pythagoras we had to study about our maths groups name and make a presentation about it. I hope you enjoy.
